My first Cinemalaya 2012
It was my first time to experience the famous Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. It is a film competition where filmmakers showcases their film which boldly interprets how some Filipino live with that kind of scenario.
I enjoyed my Cinemalaya experience, I got to see different aspect of friendship, nationalism, and people at old age from the movies I’ve watched. Those movie are Mga mumunting lihim, Ang Katiwala, at Diablo.
My favorite was Jose Javier Reyes’ Mga Mumunting Lihim (Judy Ann Santos, Iza Calzado, Janice De Belen, Agot Isidro), its about friendship. That no matter how long you’re friends with that person there’s always something that that friend will say to you at your back. It’s a realistic take on friendship. One more thing that I like on this movie is that the scripts were written how they supposed to be said on real life, a lot of cursing that makes it more realistic.
Those were the props use in the film. |
While Ang Katiwala is about how an promdi, take his chance in Manila until he got a chance to become a caretaker. Until he realizes that the house he’s taking care of is the house of former President Manuel L. Quezon. He also got a chance to know him more by reading books about him. He fascinates Manuel Quezon’s heroic deed on how he makes our country independent.
Finally, Diablo was the only movie that I did not enjoyed. Maybe it involves a lot of thinking to understand that movie. Honestly, I don’t have that kind of understanding on the movie. haha! It’s about Lusing, mother of 5 boys, who live there lives of their own.
These are the pictures I’ve took on CCP.
Wow! I’ve always wanted to attend a Cinemalaya film fest. Seems like a one of a kind experience. Lucky you. 🙂
